What’s a boilerplate?

Boilerplates are the standardized descriptions of companies you find at the end of press releases. They get their name from the analogue days of newspapers, when publishers sent pre-set plates with words to speed up and scale the printing process.

The term can be used derisively now. Boilerplates are unoriginal. Parroted. Lazy.

But, they can be helpful shortcuts.

This newsletter was started as a personal project to help you, curious person, to think beyond the easy and the repeatable - to share interesting articles, original advice and insights and to spur you to think, frame and act differently.

Subscribe to get full access to the newsletter and website. And ideas are always welcome.

I also run a freelance PR and communications shop called Boilerplate. Learn more about that here.
